I wasn't sure where to put this.. Thrift, Fun.. something else.. it is a bit of fun and might put a few pennies in your pocket, so it's here.. at least for now :)

I like those silly quizzzes you find around the net, such as 'Which hero are you?', 'How dark are you?', etc.. so here are a few..
Which Heroes character are you? Your Result: Matt Parkman You are Matt Parkman. You can read other people's thoughts. You are very confused and you are constantly searching after the person who you think did this to you. You are a patrolman who has constantly tried to move up in rank, but you can't pass the written tests because you are dislexic. | |

Here's a simple, but addictive little 'brain-training' game:
Try 'The NeverEnding Level Game' for some brain teasing! (NB below*):
Some levels are easy; others, not so much, but that's where the little grey cells get working ;)
And the fun 'Base Jumping' (NB below*):
*Sadly 'The NeverEnding Level Game' and 'Base Jumping' no longer work since the 'death' of Flash player:
Brain Training websites / apps offering limited free daily games (more available with subscriptions)
BrainGymmer
Several free daily games. Lifetime membership is only £49.95 (£24.98 currently (16/01/22) )
BrainHQ
Several free daily games. It gives you a 'daily training' exercise then that appears to be it, but you can 'EXPLORE All Exercises' and play
quite a few more for free. Subscription £5.50/month
Lumosity
Three free daily games. Subscription options include £2.50/month and £220 lifetime.
Peak and
Elevate are app only. Like most of the others,
they offer a few free daily games, which they hope you'll like enough to pay monthly. Elevate is aimed more towards literacy and has very few ads, whereas Peak
has ads before and after most of the short little games (including some of those 'sneaky' ones where you end up on google play store whilst trying to figure out
how to close them... :x )
Also, don't forget well-known exercises like
Sudoku,
Crosswords,
Mahjong, Word Search, etc..
Oh, and Wordle is great too :)
Sporcle has lots of quizzes of varying qualities and
difficulties as well. You can use them to learn which I've done with
my
three
favourites.
Others:
Braingle,
Queendom, NeuroNation (need to register to do anything on
there..?), - Need to check these out more..
Just gave the little grey cells a nice little workout with one
of the puzzles on
Queendom and really enjoyed it. Will explore further..
Duolingo - apparently free app.... Learning a new language often comes up as a good, age-defying brain workout
Ones I've rejected:
Brainwell - It wanted DOB then needed the
now obsolete Flash to be installed.. Adios!,
BrainTurk - Can't get on with this one.. games aren't clear / intuitive, irritating sounds.. just doesn't feel right
Arcade-like games sites with a multitude of games like Hexalau, Bloxorz, etc.
Incidentally, if you like the 'Papa's' cooking/restaurant management games, Papa's website has 12 of them. Sadly the demise of flash means most of them don't work anymore even with Ruffle :( Works: pizzeria Doesn't - Burgeria, freezeria
FreeRice is also a great site where you help give rice to charity by simply guessing the meanings of words. They've added other trivia categories too since I was last there. It's a win-win: giving by playing :D
